“Es fundamental reforzar nuestras leyes para garantizar que los animales reciban el cuidado y respeto que merecen. Esta reforma es un paso necesario para combatir la crueldad y el abandono”, detalló Carreón.
La reforma propone multas de hasta 250 Unidades de Medida y Actualización (UMA), las cuales equivalen a 108.57 pesos diarios en el 2024, al igual que condenas de prisión, que van desde 6 meses hasta 2 años, según la gravedad de los actos cometidos.
Con las modificaciones planteadas, serán sancionadas conductas específicas como el mantener para quienes mantener a los animales en “condiciones inadecuadas, los utilicen en actividades no propias de su especie o les causen la muerte mediante métodos que prolonguen su agonía”.
La iniciativa tiene como objetivo hacer más estricta la legislación y garantizar que se protejan los derechos de los animales: “es nuestro deber como sociedad crear un entorno de respeto y protección para los animales, y estas reformas buscan precisamente asegurar su bienestar”, afirmó el legislador.
