El presidente de Estados, Donald Trump, anunció este viernes que el sorteo para la fase de grupos del Mundial 2026 que se celebrará en ese país, en Canadá y en México será el próximo 5 de diciembre en el Centro Kennedy de Washington.
El anuncio de hoy sorprende ya que anteriormente se había filtrado que la sede del sorteo sería Las Vegas, por lo que la decisión de cambiarlo a Washington parece impulsada por la intención de Trump de aprovechar la renovación del Kennedy Center.
El sorteo del torneo, que define la fase de grupos del Mundial para los 48 países participantes, marcará el primer gran evento del torneo cuatrienal, aproximadamente seis meses antes de la inauguración.
