El secretario de Relaciones Exteriores, Juan Ramón de la Fuente, informó hoy que la utilidad del sorteo especial de la Lotería Nacional, México con M de Migrante, será destinada en su totalidad a fortalecer la atención y protección consular de la comunidad migrante en Estados Unidos.
El canciller enumeró las acciones que se pondrán en marcha y que, en su fase inicial, permitirán fortalecer las capacidades de 11 sedes consulares con mayor demanda en materia de protección:
Representación y orientación legal en materia migratoria y penal incluyendo representación en cortes, defensa en procesos de deportación y delitos menores, así como apoyo integral a menores detenidos o detenidas. Contempla el pago de fianzas migratorias en casos críticos.
Reforzamiento de capacidades en las sedes con mayor demanda en materia de protección, con personal de la comunidad especializado en temas de protección en Brownsville, Detroit, Filadelfia, Indianápolis, Kansas City, Miami, New Brunswick, Nueva Orleans, Omaha, Presidio y San Bernardino, en una primera etapa.
Programa de visitas de protección consular a centros de detención, de trabajo y prisiones, para verificar las condiciones de detención y respeto al debido proceso, documentar testimonios sobre violaciones a derechos humanos y contactar familiares.
Jornadas extraordinarias de protección preventivas en lugares lejanos a la sede consular. Esto permitirá armar brigadas móviles de protección consular en zonas rurales, centros agrícolas o albergues para realizar diagnósticos migratorios, pláticas preventivas sobre riesgos migratorios e informar sobre derechos ante autoridades locales, y detectar casos de abuso o remoción forzada.
Ayuda para emergencias por desastres naturales y apoyar a personas vulnerables afectadas por inundaciones, incendios o huracanes, entre otros.
Programas preventivos y difusión de materiales informativos en redes sociales y medios locales para la campaña de Conoce y ejerce tus derechos.
