China impondrá aranceles del 10 % y el 15 % a productos agropecuarios procedentes de Estados Unidos en respuesta a la imposición, por parte de Washington, de los gravámenes del 20 % a los productos del país asiático que entraron en vigor este martes.
Según anunció hoy el Ministerio de Finanzas en un comunicado, China gravará con un 15 % las importaciones estadounidenses de pollo, trigo y maíz, y con un 10 % a las de soya, carne de cerdo, de vacuno, productos acuáticos, frutas y lácteos, entre otros productos.
Los aranceles entrarán en vigor el próximo 10 de marzo y se imponen en respuesta a los gravámenes “unilaterales” impuestos por Estados Unidos, los cuales, argumenta la cartera, “dañan el sistema de comercio multilateral, aumentan la carga sobre las empresas y los consumidores estadounidenses y socavan la base de la cooperación económica y comercial entre China y Estados Unidos“.
El país asiático es el principal mercado para esos sectores estadounidenses, aunque en los dos últimos años sus exportaciones a China han experimentado descensos de hasta el 20 %.
Entre los productos gravados con un 15 % figura también el algodón, y en los gravados con un 10 %, verduras y sorgo.
Asimismo, el Ministerio de Comercio anunció en otro comunicado que ha añadido un grupo de empresas estadounidenses a su lista de control de exportaciones, otro a su lista de entidades poco confiable, y que llevará el caso a la Organización Mundial del Comercio (OMC).
China ya había adelantado en los últimos días que tomaría represalias para “defender sus derechos e intereses” tras la decisión del presidente de EE.UU., Donald Trump, de duplicar al 20 % los aranceles adicionales impuestos al país asiático desde que regresó a la presidencia.
El republicano considera que Beijing no está haciendo lo suficiente para evitar la entrada de fentanilo en su país.
Según las autoridades chinas, el fentanilo es solo “un pretexto”, dado que la política antidrogas de China “es una de las más estrictas y más rigurosamente aplicadas del mundo” y los dos países han cooperado en este ámbito con “resultados destacados”.
Un portavoz de la cartera de Comercio señaló hoy previamente que la actuación de Washington es un “típico acto de unilateralismo y acoso que falta al respeto a los hechos, a las reglas del comercio internacional y a las voces de todas las partes”.
China ya respondió a una primera tanda de aranceles del 10 % gravando entre el 10 % y el 15 % ciertos productos estadounidenses, además de establecer nuevos controles a las exportaciones de minerales clave y abrir una investigación contra el gigante tecnológico estadounidense Google.
En su primera presidencia (2017-2021), Trump ya mantuvo una relación tensa con Beijing al imponer varias rondas de aranceles por valor de unos 370 mil millones de dólares anuales, a lo que China respondió con gravámenes a las exportaciones estadounidenses.
