De mayo a julio de este año, más de 900 atletas de todo el estado compitieron en 30 disciplinas deportivas en el marco de la Olimpiada Nacional, logrando un total de 192 medallas: 34 de oro, 36 de plata y 32 de bronce, que posicionaron a Chihuahua en el noveno lugar del medallero nacional. Este logro representa un hito, ya que era desde 2014, hace 11 años, que el estado no figuraba entre los diez mejores del país.
Dirigiéndose directamente a los jóvenes atletas, el Presidente Municipal les agradeció por poner en alto el nombre de Chihuahua, al aportar 102 medallas, más de la mitad del total estatal, en 20 disciplinas diferentes. Este desempeño no solo consolidó el liderazgo de la capital en el deporte estatal, sino que también fue clave para el triunfo colectivo.
El Edil resaltó que cada medalla representa horas de entrenamiento, sacrificios familiares, dietas, cansancio y una voluntad de acero, además destacó el trabajo de escuelas de formación, entrenadores y familias, pilares fundamentales del éxito deportivo.
Bonilla también reconoció de manera especial a los atletas que refrendaron su título nacional, entre ellos David Humberto, Jesús, Fernando, Valeria, Maximiliano, Mía, Michelle, Marla, Yana, Luis Antonio y Eric. Asimismo, felicitó a quienes han trascendido al escenario internacional, como Wendy Rebeca, campeona mundial de artes marciales mixtas en Abu Dhabi, y Francisco Javier, triple campeón en tiro con arco y seleccionado panamericano.
Por su parte, Juan José Abdo, director del Instituto Municipal de Cultura Física y Deporte, resaltó que los jóvenes son un referente positivo para la sociedad, porque demuestran fortaleza mental, disciplina y compromiso.
Destacó que los 180 atletas capitalinos que integraron equipos individuales y de conjunto fueron clave en este logro histórico, fruto de un trabajo en equipo entre municipios, el Instituto Chihuahuense del Deporte y el apoyo inquebrantable de familias y entrenadores.
