En el Sistema Arrecifal Veracruzano no se han encontrado afectaciones por hidrocarburo, aseguraron autoridades ambientales durante su visita a Veracruz, al señalar que esta zona se mantiene bajo vigilancia constante debido a su importancia ecológica.
La secretaria Alicia Bárcena indicó que, hasta el momento, no se tienen indicios de daño en esta área natural protegida, aunque precisó que continúan las labores de supervisión para dar seguimiento a cualquier cambio que pudiera registrarse.
“Creemos que no (presenta afectaciones), estamos valorando, el Sistema Arrecifal Veracruzano es una de nuestras áreas naturales protegidas más importantes, (…) no hay rastros de hidrocarburo, pero igual tenemos vigilancia”, expresó.
En el mismo sentido, Pedro Álvarez-Icaza Longoria, titular de la Comisión Nacional de Áreas Naturales Protegidas, afirmó que en esta zona no se han hallado trazas del contaminante, por lo que incluso se prevé realizar tareas de buceo para reforzar la revisión ante la preocupación que ha manifestado la ciudadanía.
“Vino una misión de la UNESCO para revisar el sistema arrecifal de Veracruz y pudimos constatar que ahí no había impacto en los arrecifes”, comentó.
No obstante, durante esta misma visita, las autoridades señalaron que en otras áreas naturales protegidas sí se han detectado restos de hidrocarburo.
Alicia Bárcena indicó que de las nueve áreas naturales protegidas ubicadas entre Tabasco, Veracruz y Tamaulipas, en ocho se han localizado rastros del contaminante, aunque aseguró que estos han sido retirados por brigadas especializadas.
La funcionaria federal añadió que el Grupo Interinstitucional integrado para atender esta contingencia continúa realizando trabajos en playas de Tabasco, Veracruz y Tamaulipas, con el propósito de mantener la limpieza y evaluar en qué otras acciones puede fortalecerse la atención a este problema ambiental.
“Venimos a ver cómo están las playas, a ver cómo están las cosas, en qué más podemos ayudar y ver cómo podemos seguir trabajando este equipo internacional”, informó.
