La presidenta, Claudia Sheinbaum, informó que su gobierno colabora con autoridades de Estados Unidos para contener la plaga del gusano barrenador en distintas entidades del país, lo que ha abierto la posibilidad de que en los próximos meses se reanude de manera paulatina la exportación de ganado a través de la frontera norte.
La mandataria detalló que esta coordinación se da junto con la Secretaría de Agricultura de Estados Unidos, encabezada por Brooke Rollins, mediante acciones como la importación de moscas estériles y la implementación de métodos adicionales para frenar la propagación de la plaga.
No obstante, advirtió que aún no existe un acuerdo formal que garantice la apertura, por lo que no puede confirmarse una fecha concreta. “Hay la posibilidad de que en meses próximos se abra la frontera, pero hasta no tener un acuerdo formal no podemos decir que sí”, puntualizó.
La titular del Ejecutivo calificó como positivas las recientes declaraciones de la funcionaria estadounidense, al considerar que reflejan avances en la cooperación bilateral para atender esta problemática sanitaria.
