La presidenta de México, Claudia Sheinbaum, dijo que “no tendría ningún impacto porque no hubo una expropiación”, lo anterior con relación a la ley que se presentó en la Cámara de Representantes en Estados Unidos, que tiene el objetivo de proteger las propiedades de empresas estadounidenses en el extranjero con relación con Vulcan Materials y la mina Calica en Quintana Roo.
Sheinbaum aseveró que la ley no tendría impactos en las negociaciones con el negocio en mención, debido a que no hubo una expropiación en la mina de Calica, sino un cambio en el uso del suelo para decretar una ANP.
También indicó que continúan con las negociaciones con la empresa para llegar a un acuerdo para evitar la sobreexplotación y los impactos ambientales.

Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
