El Gobierno Municipal, a través del Instituto Municipal de la Juventud, entregó de manera simbólica un cheque por 7 millones 569 mil 996 pesos a la Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez (UACJ), como parte del Programa Becas de Acceso a la Universidad.
Luego de ello, se entregaron 1,588 constancias en físico a estudiantes beneficiarios del programa, correspondiente al presente ciclo escolar. Esta beca cubre el pago de inscripción a la universidad, con el objetivo de facilitar el ingreso de jóvenes a la educación superior.
El Presidente Municipal, Cruz Pérez Cuéllar señaló que el programa fue propuesto hace cuatro años por el Instituto Municipal de la Juventud, a partir de un análisis sobre la deserción escolar posterior a la preparatoria. Desde su implementación, el programa ha dado el apoyo a más de 9,200 jóvenes.
“Somos el único municipio en todo México que otorga este tipo de apoyo para ingresar a una universidad pública”, indicó el alcalde.
Añadió que la intención es mantener este programa como una política permanente del Gobierno Municipal.
Luis Osvaldo Rivas García, director del Instituto Municipal de la Juventud, informó que este año se duplicó el número de becas respecto al año anterior, pasando de 800 a más de 1,500. Esto fue posible tras un incremento en el presupuesto del programa, que ascendió de 3 a 6 millones de pesos.
Pedro Eugenio Yáñez Camacho, director de Bienestar Universitario de la UACJ, explicó que la beca de acceso permite a los estudiantes iniciar su formación sin cubrir cuotas iniciales. También señaló que una vez inscritos, los estudiantes pueden acceder a otras becas institucionales como las de excelencia académica, deportivas y culturales.
El evento se enmarcó dentro de las actividades del Mes de las Juventudes, coordinado por el Instituto Municipal de la Juventud.
