El enviado especial del presidente Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff reconoció este jueves que las negociaciones en Doha para un alto el fuego en la franja de Gaza fracasaron debido a la “postura egoísta” del movimiento palestino Hamas.
“Decidimos traer a nuestro equipo de regreso desde Doha para consultas tras la última respuesta de Hamas, que demuestra claramente su falta de voluntad de alcanzar un alto el fuego en Gaza”, publicó Witkoff en las redes sociales. “Aunque los mediadores han hecho un gran esfuerzo, Hamas no parece estar coordinado ni actuar de buena fe”,expresó.
Witkoff afirmó que Washington ahora “considerará alternativas para traer a los rehenes de vuelta a casa e intentar crear un entorno más estable para la población de Gaza”. “Es una vergüenza que Hamas haya actuado de forma tan egoísta”, apuntó.
Antes Israel anunció que llamaba a consultas a sus negociadores. La víspera Hamas afirmó haber respondido a una propuesta de tregua de 60 días en la franja de Gaza, cuando la presión internacional se intensifica para poner fin a casi dos años de una guerra devastadora.
