El general de División Piloto Aviador de Estado Mayor Román Carmona Landa tomó protesta como comandante de la Fuerza Aérea Mexicana.
Dicha toma de protesta ocurrió tras una ceremonia protocolaria realizada la mañana del 1 de junio, en la Glorieta de las Águilas del Campo Militar No. 1-A “General Álvaro Obregón”, en la Ciudad de México.
El nuevo comandante de la Fuerza Aérea Mexicana, es egresado de la Escuela Militar de Aviación dependiente del Colegio del Aire y cuenta con la siguiente preparación profesional:
Maestría en Administración Militar para la Seguridad y Defensa Nacionales, en el Colegio de Defensa Nacional.
Maestría en Administración con Especialidad en Alta Dirección, en la Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara.
Curso de Mando y Estado Mayor Aéreo con Licenciatura en Administración Militar en la Escuela Superior de Guerra.
Diplomado en Planeación Estratégica Prospectiva, en la Universidad del Valle de México.
Diplomado de Política Exterior para Personal de Estado Mayor de la S.D.N., en el Instituto Matías Romero de la Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores.
Diplomado de Actuación sobre Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo de México en la Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores.
Entre otros cargos, el general Carmona Landa se ha desempeñado como comandante del Sistema Integral de Vigilancia Aérea del Estado Mayor Conjunto de la Defensa Nacional (ahora Centro Nacional de Vigilancia y Protección del Espacio Aéreo).
También se desempeñó como comandante de la Región Aérea del Sureste que comprende Yucatán, Quintana Roo, Campeche, Tabasco, Chiapas y Oaxaca; Comandante de la Región Aérea del Centro, integrada por Zacatecas, Veracruz, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, Puebla, Morelos, Estado de México, Guanajuato, Michoacán, Colima, Jalisco, Aguascalientes, Nayarit, Guerrero y Ciudad de México.
Fue comandante de las Bases Aéreas Militares Nos. 8 y 14 en Mérida, Yuc. y Apodaca, N.L., respectivamente; comandante del Agrupamiento de Defensa Aérea, en la “XIII Cumbre de la Alianza del Pacífico 2018”, en Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, y director del Colegio del Aire en Zapopan, también en Jalisco.
En el ámbito internacional se desempeñó como Agregado Militar y Aéreo Adjunto a la Embajada de México en los eEE.UU. y como delegado alterno de la Delegación de México en la Junta Interamericana de Defensa, ambas comisiones con sede en Washington D.C.
A partir del 1 de junio, el general Carmona Landa tiene la responsabilidad de supervisar la administración de la Fuerza Aérea Mexicana; así como el adiestramiento de las y los individuos y de las unidades de esta fuerza armada.
