Andrés Lajous, titular de la Agencia Reguladora de Transporte Ferroviario, presentó la nueva Agencia de Trenes y Transporte Público Integrado, que responde a la reciente reforma constitucional y a la Ley del Servicio Ferroviario, aprobada el pasado 26 de junio.
Su propósito es fortalecer el papel del Estado en la planeación, regulación y supervisión del sistema ferroviario del país.
Detalló que la Agencia podrá encargarse del diseño de rutas de pasajeros, la organización de concesiones de carga y el acompañamiento técnico a municipios y estados en proyectos de transporte público.
La nueva institución será un organismo descentralizado, sectorizado en la Secretaría de Infraestructura, Comunicaciones y Transportes (SICT), que asumirá funciones como la planeación, regulación y fomento del sistema ferroviario nacional y su interconexión multimodal.
