La diputada Yesenia Guadalupe Reyes Calzadías, integrante del Grupo Parlamentario del Partido Acción Nacional de la Sexagésima Octava Legislatura del H. Congreso del Estado, presentó una iniciativa con carácter de decreto para declarar el 19 de marzo de cada año como el “Día Estatal de las Personas Profesionales de la Salud Pública” en el estado de Chihuahua.
Durante la exposición de motivos, la legisladora destacó que la salud pública es una disciplina fundamental para la protección, promoción y preservación de la salud de la población, al enfocarse en la prevención, la vigilancia epidemiológica, la implementación de campañas sanitarias y la formulación de políticas públicas que impactan directamente en el bienestar colectivo.
Yesenia Reyes subrayó que, a diferencia de la medicina clínica, que atiende al individuo, la salud pública trabaja para proteger a toda la población, anticipándose a riesgos y atendiendo problemáticas que afectan de manera generalizada a la sociedad. En ese sentido, señaló que reconocer a quienes se desempeñan en esta área representa un acto de justicia social y un paso importante para visibilizar una labor muchas veces silenciosa, pero indispensable.
La diputada resaltó además que, en regiones apartadas del país y del estado, como la Sierra Tarahumara, son estas y estos profesionales quienes acercan servicios esenciales mediante programas de vacunación, nutrición, salud materna y prevención de enfermedades, contribuyendo a reducir desigualdades y fortalecer el acceso a la salud para las poblaciones más vulnerables.
Asimismo, indicó que este reconocimiento cobra aún más relevancia después de la pandemia, experiencia que dejó en claro que la salud pública constituye una de las principales líneas de defensa de cualquier nación, al sostener estructuras de vigilancia, prevención y respuesta ante emergencias sanitarias.
Reyes Calzadías también destacó que la Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua, a través de la Facultad de Medicina, ofrece desde 2013 la Licenciatura en Salud Pública, formando profesionistas capacitados para atender los retos contemporáneos en materia sanitaria con un enfoque integral, intersectorial e interdisciplinario.
Con esta propuesta, la legisladora busca dignificar y visibilizar el trabajo de quienes día a día contribuyen a preservar la salud de la población, además de fortalecer una cultura de prevención y bienestar en Chihuahua.
