Ante los casos de desnutrición severa en niñas y niños en la Sierra Tarahumara, la diputada Jael Argüelles Díaz, en coordinación con el Grupo Parlamentario de Morena, y la Escuela de Veterinarios (VEP), comenzaron un proyecto de caprinocultura orientado a disminuir la incidencia en dicha población.
La legisladora detalló que el proyecto consiste en la donación de cabras y chivos a familias de la comunidad tarahumara para combatir la desnutrición entre los habitantes a base de la alimentación con leche de cabra, además del apoyo a la economía familiar con la crianza del ganado caprino y el crecimiento económico con la venta de productos como queso, yogurt y dulces.
Yesica Loya, veterinaria, indicó que el plan inició en 2023, con los animales en lactancia, por lo que la leche que se ha producido es usada para alimentar a la familia que los cuida, así como a diferentes miembros de la comunidad, incluyendo a los vecinos cercanos.
En este sentido, Argüelles Díaz reiteró que la leche de cabra presenta una mayor digestibilidad, disminuye el índice de alergias, contiene un alto valor proteico, previene la osteoporosis y ayuda en la recuperación de anemias.
Dichas cualidades y características son de gran importancia y beneficiosas para la alimentación del ser humano, en mayor medida para los infantes que se encuentran en el periodo de crecimiento y desarrollo muscular, óseo y nervioso.
Cabe señalar que actualmente las cabras están gestantes, por lo que en pocos meses estos animales se estarían multiplicando, además de que el Grupo Parlamentario de Morena se comprometió a donar una mayor cantidad de cabras para así tener un mayor alcance.
La diputa Argüelles, dijo que según datos proporcionados por la Mesa de Seguridad Alimentaria de la Sierra Tarahumara, actualmente un 60% de la población infantil indígena presenta signos de desnutrición crónica, afectando así su correcto desarrollo y ocasionando daños que causan la muerte.
Aseguró que para el año 2023, la Secretaría de Salud del Estado registró 67 casos de desnutrición severa en recién nacidos y niños menores de 5 años en la Sierra Tarahumara, y que de estas cifras hubo 16 fallecimientos, y 6 infantes que permanecieron hospitalizados.
“Tales datos tienen además un subregistro, puesto que la población indígena no acude a un centro médico o no tiene acceso a un servicio de salud pública”, observó.
Ante esto, los veterinarios de la Escuela (VEP) indicaron que las cifras antes mencionadas son preocupantes, por ello se dieron a la tarea de buscar estrategias para poder minimizar los casos en las comunidades tarahumaras.
Dijo que la estrategia de “implantación de la alimentación de los infantes a base de leche de cabra, puesto que dicha leche tiene un aporte nutricional mejor que el de la leche de vaca e inclusive que la leche materna”.
De acuerdo al último censo general, se estima que hay 120 mil personas de comunidades originarias, y el 85% vive en 23 municipios serranos, como de Guachochi, Balleza, Bocoyna, Batopilas, Guadalupe y Calvo, Urique, Uruachi, Guazapares, Carichí, y Morelos.
