Santa Fe, Nuevo México.— El Presidente Municipal de Juárez, Cruz Pérez Cuéllar, participó este día como invitado especial en una sesión oficial del Senado del Estado de Nuevo México, en el marco de la LVII Legislatura, en donde se destacó la importancia de la relación binacional entre México y Estados Unidos, particularmente con el estado de Chihuahua.
Durante la sesión, Cindy Nava, senadora estatal por Nuevo México, fue la anfitriona y encargada de recibir a la delegación mexicana integrada por autoridades municipales y representantes gubernamentales, encabezada por el alcalde juarense Cruz Pérez Cuéllar; Mauricio Ibarra Ponce de León, Cónsul General de México en El Paso, Texas y Patricia Pinzón, Cónsul General de México en Albuquerque, Nuevo México.
La participación del Presidente Pérez Cuéllar en esta sesión legislativa refuerza el compromiso de Ciudad Juárez con el fortalecimiento de la cooperación binacional, el diálogo institucional y la construcción de agendas comunes en materia económica, cultural y social, en beneficio de las comunidades fronterizas.
La legisladora Nava resaltó los lazos históricos, económicos y culturales que unen a ambas regiones fronterizas.
En su intervención, subrayó que Nuevo México mantiene una relación estratégica con México, no solo por la cercanía geográfica, sino por su impacto directo en el comercio, el empleo y el desarrollo social.
México es el principal socio comercial del estado, con exportaciones que superan los 7 mil millones de dólares anuales, lo que representa cerca del 50% del total de las exportaciones de Nuevo México y sostiene millones de empleos a ambos lados de la frontera.
Asimismo, se reconoció la aportación de las comunidades mexicanas y mexicoamericanas al crecimiento económico, cultural y social del estado, así como el papel de los consulados y puertos de entrada en la facilitación del intercambio de bienes y personas.
La sesión concluyó con un llamado a continuar impulsando políticas públicas que fortalezcan la relación México–Nuevo México y consoliden a la región fronteriza como un motor de desarrollo y prosperidad compartida.
La delegación mexicana también estuvo integrada por el diputado Alejandro Pérez Cuéllar y Jesús Elizondo Salazar, del congreso de Nuevo León.
