Un tribunal de Corea del Sur condenó este miércoles a la ex primera dama del país asiático Kim Keon-hee a un año y 8 meses de prisión por corrupción, tras declararla culpable de aceptar sobornos por parte de la controvertida Iglesia de la Unificación.
Kim fue sentenciada por aceptar en 2022 regalos de lujo por parte de un chamán y miembros de la Iglesia de la Unificación, a cambio de favores para la organización, dictaminó el Tribunal del Distrito Central de Seúl en una audiencia televisada en directo. La sentencia también contempla el pago de una multa de unos 9 mil dólares.
La condena contra Kim, la primera contra una ex primera dama de la historia de Corea del Sur, es considerablemente menor a los 15 años de prisión demandados por la Fiscalía, que también había solicitado una multa de más de un millón de dólares.
