Los demócratas del Comité de Supervisión de la Cámara de Representantes publicaron el miércoles correos electrónicos intercambiados entre Jeffrey Epstein y otros sobre el presidente Trump.
Entre los documentos figura un mensaje de 2011 de Epstein a Ghislaine Maxwell en el que afirmaba que Trump “pasó horas en mi casa” con una de las víctimas de Epstein, cuyo nombre aparece censurado. En otro correo electrónico de 2019 dirigido al autor Michael Wolff, Epstein escribió: “Por supuesto que sabía de las chicas, ya que le pidió a Ghislaine que parara”.
Maxwell fue condenada por conspirar en la red de tráfico sexual de Epstein y cumple una condena de 20 años. Wolff ha escrito varios libros sobre Trump. Los demócratas de la Cámara de Representantes dijeron que los correos electrónicos fueron entregados por el patrimonio de Epstein, que, según ellos, publicó más de 23 mil documentos que los legisladores están revisando ahora.
El señor Trump ya ha declarado anteriormente que rompió relaciones con Epstein hace años, y no ha sido acusado de ningún delito.
En uno de los mensajes de Epstein a Maxwell, fechado el 2 de abril de 2011, el fallecido financiero escribió: “Quiero que te des cuenta de que ese perro que no ha ladrado es Trump. [La víctima] pasó horas en mi casa con él, y nunca se le ha mencionado”. Entonces Maxwell responde: “He estado pensando en eso…”
En un segundo correo electrónico que parece ser de Epstein a Wolff, fechado el 31 de enero de 2019, Epstein hace referencia a una víctima, cuyo nombre está censurado, y menciona Mar-a-Lago, el complejo turístico del Trump en el sur de Florida.
“Trump dijo que me pidió que renunciara, nunca fui miembro. Por supuesto que sabía de las chicas, ya que le pidió a Ghislaine que parara”, dice el mensaje de Epstein.
En el tercer intercambio publicado por los demócratas de la Cámara de Representantes, que parece ser entre Epstein y el escritor, Wolff escribe el 15 de diciembre de 2015: “Escuché que CNN planea preguntarle a Trump esta noche sobre su relación contigo, ya sea al aire o en la rueda de prensa posterior”.
Según el intercambio de correos, Epstein responde: “Si pudiéramos elaborar una respuesta para él, ¿cuál crees que debería ser?”.
“Wolff contesta: “Creo que deberías dejar que se delate solo. Si dice que no ha estado ni en el avión ni en la casa, eso te da una valiosa ventaja en relaciones públicas y política. Puedes perjudicarlo de una manera que potencialmente te beneficie, o, si realmente parece que podría ganar, podrías salvarlo, generando una deuda. Claro que es posible que, cuando se le pregunte, diga que Jeffrey es un buen tipo, que ha sido tratado injustamente y que es víctima de la corrección política, la cual será prohibida en un régimen de Trump”.
