El Vaticano habría tratado de negociar una oferta de asilo en Rusia para el presidente venezolano, Nicolás Maduro, antes de su captura y detención por parte de las fuerzas estadounidenses el pasado 3 de enero, informó The Washington Post.
El diario informó de una conversación entre el cardenal secretario de Estado vaticano, Pietro Parolín, y el embajador estadounidense ante la Santa Sede, Brian Burch, acerca de una supuesta propuesta rusa para conceder asilo a Maduro.
“Lo que se le propuso (a Maduro) fue que se marchara y pudiera disfrutar de su dinero”, dijo una persona familiarizada con la oferta rusa, que añadió que “parte de la propuesta era que el presidente ruso, Vladímir Putin, garantizara su seguridad”.
