Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, presidenta de México, informó que 355 migrantes mexicanos han sido detenidos en distintas redadas en los Estados Unidos.
Precisó que, tan solo el jueves 10 de julio, tras la redada ocurrida en unos cultivos de California, el consulado mexicano recibió 25 llamadas por parte de familiares que solicitaron ayuda para los detenidos, pero aún se está revisando la cifra total de detenidos.
La reacción de Sheinbaum Pardo ocurre luego de que el jueves se reportara que trabajadores mexicanos fueron detenidos en redadas del Servicio de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas (ICE, en inglés) en cultivos en California, específicamente en el condado de Santa Barbara, en la zona de Carpinteria.
Debido a la actuación de los agentes se dieron manifestaciones en contra de las detenciones que fueron disueltas cuando los agentes lanzaron gas lacrimógeno para dispersar a los manifestantes en medio de los campos de cultivo.
Ante ello, el Gobierno mexicano, a través de su cancillería, activó su protocolo de atención para atender a los connacionales detenidos.
