La tecnología también es aliada de la seguridad pública, por eso, desde hace ocho años, la División de Drones de la Unidad de Operaciones Aéreas de la Dirección de Seguridad Pública Municipal (DSPM) se ha consolidado como un apoyo estratégico para los agentes en tierra, fortaleciendo la vigilancia, la prevención y la capacidad de respuesta en beneficio de las familias chihuahuenses.
Además del helicóptero Halcón 1, esta unidad especializada cuenta con drones de alta tecnología y personal capacitado que, sin importar el día o la hora, está listo para intervenir en labores como persecución de vehículos, búsqueda y localización de personas, apoyo a investigaciones policiales y vigilancia preventiva durante eventos multitudinarios como conciertos, ferias y encuentros deportivos.
El uso de drones también ha sido clave para apoyar al H. Cuerpo de Bomberos, ya que permiten identificar puntos de riesgo, localizar zonas de mayor concentración de fuego durante incendios y precisar la ubicación de senderistas extraviados o lesionados en áreas de difícil acceso, facilitando así su rescate de manera más rápida y segura.
Esta área especializada está a cargo del policía tercero Juan Antonio Hernández Rodríguez y se integra por tres pilotos certificados, quienes recibieron la capacitación necesaria para el manejo responsable y eficiente de estos equipos.
Actualmente, la corporación dispone de cuatro drones: tres Matrix 300, utilizados para operaciones de mayor alcance, y un Mavic 3, empleado en tareas más específicas.
La operación de los drones ha permitido fortalecer la vigilancia preventiva y la detección de delitos en flagrancia, mediante patrullajes aéreos periódicos en zonas comerciales y colonias con reportes recurrentes. Al detectar situaciones o vehículos sospechosos, los pilotos alertan de inmediato a los agentes en tierra para que acudan a verificar y, de ser necesario, realicen la detención correspondiente.
