Sheinbaum fue cuestionada sobre la posibilidad de que el 11 de junio de 2026, día en que se celebrará la inauguración del evento, se declare día feriado oficial a nivel nacional. Esto luego de que la jefa de Gobierno de la Ciudad de México, Clara Brugada, anunció días antes que dicha fecha será feriado local en la capital del país.
La presidenta indicó que aún no hay una definición sobre el estatus legal del 11 de junio como feriado oficial, y por lo tanto no se ha determinado si implicaría pago doble o triple para los trabajadores que laboren ese día. Será con la participación de Gabriela Cuevas, representante del gobierno de México para el Mundial, cuando se despeje la duda.
