En el marco del Día Internacional de la Eliminación de la Violencia contra la Mujer, el alcalde Cruz Pérez Cuéllar, y su esposa, la presidenta del DIF Municipal, Rubí Enríquez, depositaron una ofrenda floral en el Memorial a Víctimas de Feminicidio del Campo Algodonero.
Desde ese lugar, el alcalde destacó que este acto de reconocimiento de la memoria histórica y el no olvido es fundamental para redignificar a las víctimas de feminicidio y a las sobrevivientes de la violencia, pero sobre todo, es un recordatorio claro de la urgencia de promover el acceso a la justicia, la reparación integral del daño y las garantías de no repetición.
“Desde la Administración Municipal reafirmamos nuestro compromiso y con respeto ofrecemos esta ofrenda floral como símbolo de nuestra solidaridad colectiva”, indicó.
El edil comentó que el Campo Algodonero no solo representa un espacio de memoria, sino que es un llamado constante a renovar el compromiso colectivo, personal, comunitario e institucional para garantizar que todas las mujeres y niñas tengan acceso a una vida libre de violencia.
El acto solemne se llevó a cabo con la participación de madres de mujeres desaparecidas e integrantes de asociaciones civiles que trabajan en defensa de los derechos de las mujeres, con el propósito de rendir homenaje a las madres buscadoras, a las asociaciones y a las mujeres que sin poder de elección ya no se encuentran aquí.
El alcalde indicó que es necesario traer a la memoria los hechos que sucedieron en el Campo Algodonero, pues en el 2001 se presentó una denuncia ante la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos a raíz del hallazgo de ocho cuerpos de mujeres en ese espacio, ubicado en Paseo de la Victoria y Ejército Nacional, donde anteriormente eran campos de cultivo de algodón.
Dijo para el 2009 la Comisión emitió la sentencia Campo Algodonero y entre sus disposiciones estipuló la creación de un monumento como forma de dignificar la memoria de las mujeres víctimas de feminicidio en esta frontera.
Para el 2011 se levantó el memorial donde hoy se recordó a Esmeralda Herrera Monreal, María de los Ángeles Acosta Ramírez, Merlín Elizabeth Rodríguez Sáenz, Claudia Iveth González, Laura Berenice Ramos Monárrez, Mayra Juliana Reyes Solís, María Rosina Galicia y una mujer aún no identificada.
El Presidente Municipal externó respeto y refrendó el compromiso de este Gobierno de seguir combatiendo la violencia en contra de las mujeres.
Durante el acto solemne, Norma Laguna, mamá de Idaly Juache Laguna, quien desapareció en el 2010 y dos años más tarde fue localizada sin vida en el arroyo El Navajo, pidió a los tres niveles de Gobierno trabajar de manera coordinada en el tema, a fin de brindar mejores resultados.
“Hemos visto a lo largo de los años que hubo avances y logros que se hicieron por parte de las madres con el acompañamiento de las organizaciones civiles, pero ahora existe un retroceso en las dos administraciones gubernamentales porque quitan el recurso a la Fiscalía de la Mujer”, indicó.
En el evento estuvieron la directora del Instituto Municipal de las Mujeres, Elvira Urrutia Castro, así como Susana Montes, mamá de María Guadalupe Pérez Montes y Carmen Castillo, madre de Mónica Liliana Delgado Castillo, jóvenes que están dentro del caso del arroyo El Navajo.
