La presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo admitió que ya se trabaja en una nueva ley para evitar la usurpación de las ideas de los pueblos originarios. Ello, tras el lanzamiento de los huaraches Slip-On de Adidas y el diseñador mexicoamericano Willy Chavarría.
Indicó que actualmente se mantienen en pláticas para analizar la parte jurídica y así apoyar a los pueblos creadores. No obstante, lamentó que exista apropiación cultural aun cuando la ley lo prohíbe. Por su parte, Marina Núñez, subsecretaria de Desarrollo Cultural, dijo que Adidas y un diseñador hicieron apropiación cultural; sin embargo, adelantó que Adidas ya se puso en contacto con el Gobierno de Oaxaca para resarcir a la comunidad en cumplimiento con la ley de patrimonio.
El diseño fue presentado en el Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico y el modelo de huaraches utiliza el nombre del estado al llamarse “Oaxaca Slip-On”, inspirado en el calzado tradicional de Villa Hidalgo Yalalag, en la Sierra Norte de Oaxaca.
Se trata de un diseño que se asemeja a un huarache tradicional de cuero negro con el tejido clásico cruzado y lo mezcla con una suela alta tipo tenis, parte de la estética de Adidas. Cabe destacar que no es la primera vez que pasa una situación similar, por lo que celebró que se investigue la creación de una nueva medida para reforzar la protección a los pueblos originarios y sus creaciones.
