Venezuela denunció este jueves que cazas estadunidenses “se atrevieron a acercarse” a las costas del país caribeño, en medio de la crisis por el despliegue militar que Washington hizo en el Caribe para operaciones contra el narcotráfico.
En declaraciones en la televisión estatal, el ministro de Defensa, Vladimir Padrino, informó que el sistema de defensa aéreo venezolano “detectó más de cinco vectores”, que definió como “aviones de combate”.
El ministro no precisó la localización de los cazas estadunidenses, pero señaló que pilotos de líneas aéreas comerciales los avistaron. En tanto, el presidente de Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, tachó este operativo de “asedio” y “amenaza”.
“El imperialismo norteamericano se ha atrevido a acercarse a las costas venezolanas”, afirmó Padrino. “Los estamos viendo. No nos intimida la presencia de estos vectores”, agregó el mandatario.
“Denuncio ante el mundo esta situación que no deja de ser una provocación, pero también una amenaza a nuestra seguridad nacional”, sentenció.
