En laUNAM fue maestro de licenciatura en la Facultad de Economía de la UNAM desde el 2021.
Fue titular de la Secretaría de Finanzas del Gobierno de la Ciudad de México durante la Administración de Miguel Ángel Mancera (2012 -2018).
Ha ocupado diversos cargos en el ámbito público y privado, entre ellos el de investigador del Banco de México (Banxico)
Fue nominado como el mejor Economista de América Latina por el Institutional Investor de Nueva York en 1998.
A partir del 1 de octubre de 2024 desempeñaba su cargo como subsecretario de Hacienda y Crédito Público (SHCP).
