En la conferencia de este jueves en Palacio Nacional se hizo una presentación para intentar desvirtuar una vez más el reportaje del diario estadounidense The New York Times (NYT) sobre cómo miembros de la delincuencia organizada fabrican pastillas de fentanilo en la cocina de una casa del centro de Culiacán, Sinaloa.
Alejandro Svarch, director del IMSS Bienestar, destacó que no es posible que las personas que muestran las imágenes del reportaje no vistieran trajes especiales para el manejo de una sustancia altamente tóxica.
Señaló que la toxicidad del fentanilo comienza con 0.2 miligramos, equivalente a tres o cuatro pequeños granos de sal.
“Si hubiera sido fentanilo lo que estuvieran produciendo, el operador, la persona que estaba haciéndolo, hubiera durado 30 segundos y hubiera caído fulminado producto de los vapores que presenta la síntesis del fentanilo”, sostuvo Svarch.
Juana Peñaloza, química analista de precursores en campo de la Secretaría de Marina, cuestionó que en el reportaje, “los cocineros” aseguren que no requieren de vestimenta que los proteja del contacto directo del fentanilo porque han desarrollado resistencia a la sustancia.
“Si bien existen factores que pueden influir en la toxicidad, tal como la tipología física de una persona, no existe evidencia científica que respalde tal idea. Anexo a esto, el uso del pasamontañas o bandanas y el cubrebocas de tela de tres pliegues observados en los cocineros podría estar relacionado únicamente como medida de protección de su identidad y no como una medida de protección personal”, explicó.
Tras la presentación de los especialistas, la presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum asegvuró que no es la primera vez que el NYT publica notas cuya información es en contra del gobierno de México, desde la pasada administración.
“Aquí estamos defendiendo el derecho a la información y si es factible o no que un medio que no sea mexicano publique notas que no son creíbles desde la perspectiva científica, como se ha mencionado (…) Es importante que se conozca, se diga y que haya información veraz. Los medios de comunicación, cualquiera que este sea, tienen la obligación de dar información veraz”, demandó.
La mandataria reiteró la disposición de su gobierno para colaborar con el de Estados Unidos en el combate al tráfico de fentanilo, pero aclaró que con respeto a la soberanía de cada país.
“En México no aceptamos injerencismo y colaboramos, pero no nos subordinamos. Y así va a ser. Entonces, se colabora, se trabaja en información conjunta, pero en México nos hacemos cargo las y los mexicanos”, advirtió.
El lunes pasado, Sheinbaum restó credibilidad al reportaje y aseguró que el asunto había sido tratado en la reunión del gabinete de seguridad de ese día y dijo que acordaron hacer una presentación de los laboratorios clandestinos desmantelados por las fuerzas federales.
“No es muy creíble, vamos a ponerlo así. El fentanilo se produce de otras maneras que ya la Secretaría Marina o la autoridad regulatoria del medicamento, Cofepris, puede informar cuáles son los métodos de producción, pero no es creíble las fotografías que se presentan ahí. Incluso por el daño a la salud que podría causar para quien está las cocinando, como se dice, estas drogas”, dijo ese día.
