La percepción de inseguridad de los mexicanos subió a un 61.9 por ciento en el primer trimestre de 2025, cuando se cumple medio año de la presidencia de Claudia Sheinbaum, con más de la mitad de la población con la expectativa que la violencia seguirá “igual de mal” o “empeorará”.
Esto significa que más de seis de cada 10 habitantes de 18 años o más consideraron insegura su ciudad, según la Encuesta Nacional de Seguridad Pública Urbana (ENSU) que publicó el Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (Inegi).
El resultado es mayor al 61.7 por ciento de octubre a diciembre y al 58.6 % de julio a septiembre, el último trimestre de la presidencia de Andrés Manuel López Obrador (2018-2024), según el informe.
La percepción de inseguridad en México alcanzó su nivel más bajo en la historia al final de la gestión de López Obrador pese a un récord de más de 196 mil homicidios acumulados en su sexenio, un ascenso mayor al 20 por ciento ante el Gobierno anterior, de Enrique Peña Nieto (2012-2018).
Los datos del Inegi, un organismo autónomo, se publicaron mientras el Secretariado Ejecutivo del Sistema Nacional de Seguridad Pública (SESNSP) del Gobierno sostuvo este martes que hay una caída del 32.9 por ciento en la incidencia diaria de homicidios en el primer semestre de Sheinbaum Pardo.
Mientras en septiembre hubo un promedio de 86,9 asesinatos diarios en abril hay una media preliminar de 58.3, expuso Marcela Figueroa, titular del SESNSP en la conferencia diaria del Palacio Nacional.
La estadística del Inegi exhibió una persistente brecha de género, con el 67.5 por ciento de las mujeres con inseguridad frente al 55 % de los hombres.
La ciudad mexicana con mayor percepción de inseguridad fue otra vez Villahermosa, Tabasco, donde el 90.6 por ciento de sus habitantes reportaron este sentimiento en medio de la disputa del crimen organizado por controlar el tráfico de drogas y personas desde Centroamérica.
Le siguen Culiacán (89.7 %), Fresnillo (89.5 %), Uruapan (88.7 %), Irapuato (88.4 %) y Chimalhuacán (86.1 %).
En contraste, la ciudad menos insegura fue San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León y considerado el municipio más rico de México, donde solo el 10.4 por ciento de la población reportó inseguridad.
Le siguieron la alcaldía Benito Juárez de Ciudad de México (20.4 %), Piedras Negras (20.5 %), Puerto Vallarta (23 %), Saltillo (24.5 %) y Los Cabos (24.7 %).
Por espacio público y por crimen
Sobre espacios específicos, el 69.1 por ciento de la población sintió inseguridad en los cajeros automáticos, el 62.8 % en el transporte público, el 56.1 por ciento en las carreteras, y el 53.2 % en el banco.
La ciudadanía que reportó haber atestiguado delitos cerca de su vivienda denunció consumo de alcohol en las calles (58 %), robos o asaltos (49.6 %), vandalismo (40.4 %), venta o consumo de drogas (39.2 %) y disparos (39.1 %).
